Very Good!

The author of this book was looking for people to review her story so I contacted her and then went to download my copy (it was being offered for free that day) from amazon. I dug right in, intrigued by the storyline and I have to say, I was not let down but I *was* surprised. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but I mean that in a good way.

"The Bloodlines Project" follows 14 year old Nena as she is about to embark on a new life adventure, a life of bliss that she has earned for doing her part in The Plan. Only things don't go at all as they are supposed to and she is kidnapped on her way to The Heart, where she expected her whole life to change. And they're changing alright, but it's nothing like Nena expected.

I was a little worried about the age of the main character but got over that pretty quick. The book has good pacing and some surprises that will keep you reading!

Gripping Dystopian Tale

'Breeding Plan' is the first novel in 'The Bloodlands Trilogy'. It tells the dystopian tale of teenage girl called Nena who comes to realise she has been lied to her whole life and when she finds out the awful truth she needs to make some hard decisions.

I thought the concept for this novel was intriguing and this was carried out very well. When I started reading I found it an enjoyable adventure tale, getting to know the characters through their reactions to their situations, such as when Nena and her friend are taken prisoner. Once Nena runs off and finds out the terrible truth of what her future has been determined to entail, it becomes a darker read with some truly disturbing moments. For me this made the book go from an easy read to completely gripping very quickly. I couldn't put it down once I got past the halfway mark!

This is a powerfully gripping dystopian story, and it's only the start of Nena's journey. I look forward to the next book. Highly recommended!

A gripping dystopian story

This a good pick for anyone who enjoyed books like The Hunger Games and is hungry for another young adult dystopia. Nena has been raised as a good, obedient worker and thinks that travelling to "the Heart" is the key to her happiness, but when she gets captured by rebels she starts to think she's been lied to. The book has a good plot and moves at a quick pace; the second half in particular gets very tense as Nena realises how dangerous her situation is. And like all good YA books, it's really about trying to decide what to do with your life and standing up against people who are manipulating you. I wish there was a bit more about the Bloodlands universe though - it wasn't as detailed as some other dystopian books - and there are a few loose ends at the end, but hopefully that sort of thing is being saved for the sequel. Give it a read if you're a fan of the genre!

This is a great coffee table book. I'm using it for reference for a Kanye West project and proposal. The interview is all over the place, yet total Kanye.

Shorter book than all of the others, but it packs a good punch!

What an emotional rollercoaster! I loved the character of Ben since book #1, and he's still one of my favorites. But I must say, I didn't care much for Charlotte in the beginning, but she seemed to redeem herself at least a little bit in the end.

We finally get a snippet of what is to come with Ben and Charlotte. Their's was sort of a sad story, really, but one that I felt that needed to be told. The fans know that something happened between them, but up until now.... we just didn’t know what. Their story starts off in the present, then reverts back into their past as teenagers. But then towards the end of the story, it reverts back to the present again. This isn't a HEA for either one, but it leaves you with the hope that someday down the line it will finally happen for them. I guess for now at least, we'll just have to wait and see. This story only makes her characters stronger and they feel even more real. If you chose to read this book, just make sure you have plenty of tissues on hand, because you'll need them, for sure.

After reading the 'Remmington' series, and now the 'Summer Lake' series, SJ McCoy has become one of my favorite authors of all times. I've been through her author's page recently, and I'm proud to say that I have read every single book listed there so far. She's got me hooked. I can't wait to see what she writes about next!

I can't believe you ended the story the way you did every book was great until the end where I had to draw my own ending it was very disappointing I don't know if I will read any more I read 9 and they ended with me having to findmy own ending not my style of reading

This book is by far my favorite! I have been in Charlotte's shoes. That loss is unbearable.....taboo to talk about, but needs to be shared to help heal. Thanks for taking this into the open. Can't wait to read the rest of their story!

About the Author
David M. Buss received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkley in 1981. He began his career in academics at Harvard, later moving to the University of Michigan before accepting his current position as Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas. His primary research interests include human sexuality, mating strategies, conflict between the sexes, homicide, stalking, and sexual victimization. The author of more than 200 scientific articles and 6 books, Buss has won numerous awards including the American Psychological Association (APA) Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology (1988), the APA G. Stanley Hall Lectureship (1990), the APA Distinguished Scientist Lecturer Award (2001), and the Robert W. Hamilton Book Award (2000) for the first edition of Evolutionary Psychology: The New Science of the Mind. He is also the editor of the first comprehensive Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology (2005, Wiley). He enjoys extensive cross-cultural research collaborations and lectures widely within the United States and abroad.

A great insight to why we do the things we do

I bought this book after seeing it on Tai Lopez's top recommended books list. It's an extremely easy read and gives tons of valuable insight to human behavior. It covers a variety of topics relating to the "hard-wired" preferences our brain has in terms of mate selection, the foods we eat, and decision making. This book sheds light on the inner workings of how and why humans operate.

Like fine wine: 5th ed of the original textbook in Evolutionary Psychology

The 5th edition of David Buss's textbook, Evolutionary Psychology, provides a sparkling update to the original and now classic undergraduate textbook in the field. Buss's textbook was published in its first edition in 1999, the first such textbook in the field. The remarkable success of the field and of this textbook generated a flurry of would-be competitor textbooks. I have used nearly every one of them at one time or another as a textbook for my undergraduate courses in evolutionary psychology. Yet I always return to Buss's textbook. Buss's command of the field and his engaging writing are second-to-none, and with each edition he provides a thorough and current update to the textbook, reflecting the latest empirical and theoretical advances. David Buss's Evolutionary Psychology is simply the best textbook available in the field. In fact, Buss's writing and presentation is so clear and straightforward that this book is one of the very best introductions to the field for anyone who has interest in learning about evolutionary psychology. The 5th ed of Evolutionary Psychology refines and updates once again this now-classic textbook.

Superb evolutionary psychology text - informative, engaging, and accessible.

This is an outstanding textbook. I've been reading every new edition of this text since it was in its 2nd edition many years ago, and it keeps getting better with every iteration. It's been my personal choice for pleasure, for recommending evolutionary psychology texts to others, and for teaching university courses. It's one of the few textbooks I've ever come across - along with John Alcock's excellent Animal Behavior - that can be read solely for pleasure. The writing is engaging, the material is fascinating, and even when the ideas are conceptually challenging, the treatment is thoroughly accessible. I re-read this book every time I'm gearing up to teach a course in evolutionary psychology, plus a few times for fun or as a refresher. It feels like I'm learning something new every time I read it, and it's always a fun and engaging read. I have bought this text for friends, gifted it to fellow professors, and plan to keep using it in my college evolutionary psychology courses. It's a gem of a textbook, and I recommend it in the highest possible terms.
