to understand the country, understand the personality cult

Many books exist in the English language on North Korea and the Kim dynasty. The thing to understand, however, is how Kim Il Sung did the things he REALLY did, because this is the baseline for why the country is the way it is. Written when he was still alive (1988), this book seeks to tear down myths of Kim Il Sung's infallibility (from the Northern view) and completely fictionalized back story (from some Southern views).

In some regards this is a dry affair, being highly historical and focused on getting names, dates, and events as closely aligned to factual history as possible. But seeing how history unfolded and was revised continuously in efforts to change his image in the public eye is worth any dryness you have to endure.

Enlightening and fascinating, if you want to know North Korea, this is the one and only place to start.

This is essential for understanding North Korea and how it relates to the world of today. To undestand North Korea you must understand it's founder Kim Il Sung. The book goes on to show how he created a Stalinist State and huge army to insure it's survival. It talks about the many attempts on the lives of south korean presidents and his unpredictable nature that he passed on to his son and successor. Understandin Kin Il Sung will help the reader understand why Noth Korea is today run more like a cult than a country and why it is the most secretive country in the world today and a failed society.

I have been an enthusiastic fan (both as a spectator and an active participant) of numerous combat sports (Boxing, Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and Wrestling) and martial arts (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Kenjutsu, and Tanto-Jutsu) for more than 55 years. I am always interested in different fitness routines and I loved the first book (Workouts from Boxing’s greatest Champs by Gary Todd) and I am happy to see he also wrote this follow up (Greatest ever boxing workouts by Gary Todd) volume.

This 184 page soft cover book follows the same format as the first volume. I have to admit that I was not familiar with many of the boxers because some of them fought mostly in other countries; nevertheless, I found this book interesting and informative. The book gives a short bio of the author which also includes the country he is from, date of birth, how many wins and losses and titles he won. It than has a short question and answer section along with the actual workout routine of the boxer. I found it interesting that many boxers had other hobbies they liked such as Golf and swimming etc.

Some of the boxers in this volume includes: Anthony “The Man” Mundine, Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver, Danny “The Green Machine” Green, Curtis Cokes, “Gentleman” Jim Watt, “Irish” John Duddy, “Iron” Mike Tyson, Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns, “Irish” Micky Ward, Roberto “Hands of stone” Duran, Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao, “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather, JNR and many other boxers.

Basically the book is mini biographies of boxers, some known in the States, and some not as well known, plus their workout routines. Good to look at to incorporate some of their techniques into individuals' boxing workouts.

Top marks all around

This book is very good. Most PLC books do little more than explain ladder-logic. Gary Kirchof assumes you understand relays and ladders and are ready to put the stuff to good use. He shows you how to approach a machine control design with a methodology that incorporates all the nuances that you will need like manual mode versus automatic mode and how to make problems easy to isolate. This book would be an excellent reference for engineering courses teaching PLC programming as it would give the students practical applications.

More intelligent than rest, good second step

This book covers more interesting things than just ladder logic and instructions. Make it the second book after you've learnt the basics. Btw, the ISA site has the table of contents at [...] (now, I won't be surprised if Amz cuts out this link, but hey... I've tried. If it's gone, just google on the book's title, you'll find it. Make the author's name (Kirchof OR Kirckof)... apparently the publisher isn't quite sure, so there you go). I'd recommend this book, for the right reader (if you've been a controls engineer for five years or more, chances are you'll find nothing new here, but if not, you'll shorten the learning curve).
